League Features

  • 21-game regular season
  • Three 15-minute start/stop periods
  • One timeout per game
  • USA Hockey Rules apply for all games
  • Penalties: 2-minute minor, 5-minute major, 10-minute misconduct
  • Mercy Rule – Running time will start when a team is down by 6 goals or more. Stop time will resume when goal differential is less than six
  • All players are required to have USA Hockey Insurance
  • A player can play in multiple divisions but not on a team in the same division
  • Players must play in a minimum of seven games in order to be eligible for play-offs
  • There will be no ties. At the end of regulation if the score is tied, three players from each team will be selected for a shoot-out until a decisive goal is scored
  • The Commissioner has the right to review and make any changes to game score sheets and player discipline. All decisions made by the Commissioner are final
  • Blood rule
  • Pucks that hit netting and stay in play will be played as a live puck


  • Any player who receives a fighting major will immediately be expelled from the League pending a hearing with League officials
  • A player who commits three penalties in one game will automatically receive a game misconduct
  • Any player who receives a match penalty in a game will be expelled from the League
  • Any misconduct penalty will result in an automatic game misconduct
  • Game misconducts = one game suspension
  • Three misconducts = expulsion from league
  • Expulsion from league will result in loss of all entry fees paid
  • Teams are required to have a goalie dressed – failure to do so will result in a forfeit
  • If a player fights in the last five games or playoffs, they will be suspended for the remainder of the current season as well as the following season


  • Teams are required to have a minimum of five players (excludes goalie) present for all games. Failure to do so will result in forfeit and a team fine
  • There will be a $100 fine for forfeited games
  • Captains are required to inform the Commissioner of any changes to their roster at least one day prior to their next game
  • Teams are allowed to use a goalie from the goalie pool or from another team only with the Commissioner’s permission
  • All captains are required to submit their team rosters by October 10, 2014
  • Mandatory captain’s meeting on October 15th
  • It is the captain’s responsibility to make sure all players are legal to play. Captains who use an illegal player will automatically be suspended for one game

Illegal Players

  • Any player playing while suspended
  • Any player not registered through USA Hockey
  • Any player not on a team’s current roster
  • Any player using someone else’s jersey
  • Players who are not wearing the required equipment


  • All players are required to wear the following:
    • Certified helmet
    • Gloves
    • Elbow pads
    • Pants
    • Shin guards
    • Hockey skates
    • (Cages/visors and shoulder pads are optional. Skate at your own risk)


Adult Hockey

Q: What days/times are the games?

A: Premier League games are played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Weekday League games are played on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and the Weekend League will be played on Saturdays and Sundays. Games will begin evenings after 9:30 p.m. but before 10:30 p.m.

Q: How many games do teams play?

A: For the 2014-2015 season, each team will play 21 games in the regular season. One semi-final playoff game. Three-game championship playoff series.

Q: What are the different divisions?

  • The Premier League is Tuesday/Wednesday
  • The Weekday League is Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
  • The Weekend League is Saturday/Sunday

Q: What Division do I qualify for?

  • Premier: Played at the professional, collegiate or junior levels
  • Weekday/Weekend: Played at the high school or recreational level

Q: Once I submit my team application, am I automatically accepted into the league?

A: After your application is received, it will be reviewed and you will be notified if you are accepted into the league

Q: When do games start?

A: Games will begin the week of October 28, 2014. Rosters need to be submitted by October 10, 2014

Q: How many players can be on a roster?

A: Teams can have an unlimited number of players on the roster but can only dress 18 players and 2 goalies per game

Q: Are the leagues co-ed?

A: There are no gender restrictions in all leagues

Q: Are there age restrictions?

A: All players must be 18 years or older to participate

Q: Can I join a team as a single player?

A: A free agent sign-up section will be available for individuals looking to join a team

Q: Can a player play in multiple divisions?

A: A player can play in multiple divisions but only one team per division

A: Yes. USA Hockey insurance is good for one year. You can sign up at:

A: All referee fees are included in the registration price

Q: Where do I park?

A: Parking will be available in the HARBORCENTER parking ramp

Q: Can I get my skates sharpened at HARBORCENTER?

A: Yes. The pro-shop will be open during adult league games throughout the year

Q: Will the concession stand be open during games?

A: The concession stand will be open most evenings throughout the year

Q: Are games played at HARBORCENTER during Sabres games?

A: Yes, HARBORCENTER will be fully operational year-round
