2004 – 2005 Body Contact Program

MARCH – 2004-2005 Body Contact Program

$70 per program

As players move into their Bantam year, body contact is allowed in the game of hockey.  The Academy of Hockey understands the importance of this “skill”, and has built a program to assist players with their development of it. Body checking is used in order to separate your opponent from the puck with the goal of gaining puck possession.  This program consists of two 1-hour long sessions in which the Academy coaching staff will highlight the following:

  • A review of the reasons why body checking is important.
  • Delivering and receiving a check with proper form and control; focusing on:
    • Skating and balance
    • Head position
    • Shoulder and arm placement
    • Leg drive
  • Positional angles and timing to generate a successful body check.
  • Understanding the danger zones on the ice when giving and receiving a body check.
