SPRING PROGRAMS

SPRING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

The Academy of Hockey is excited to announce our 2017 Spring Development Programs. As you will see, our offerings include opportunities for birth years 1998-2011. It is our belief that the Spring Season is a true opportunity for players to be laser focused on their individual game.   Without the pressure of games, systems, and player roles, the “spring development season” allows for emphasis on core hockey skills and building a player’s hockey IQ.  The Academy of Hockey has developed programing dedicated and focused solely on skill development.  Each player will have the opportunity to make great strides when participating in our programs due to our philosophy of deep practice.  Our deep practice concept will provide each player the ability to: understand a concept through detailed explanation, build the skill through controlled repetition, and build confidence via positive reinforcement and instant correction.  Our experienced coaching staff is excited about the opportunity to help accelerate and enhance the skill level of each player that is part of our Academy spring program. The specific programs offered mid April 2017 through May 2017 are:

Junior College Pro Development Program

Junior College Pro Development Program

June – August

$450

This program will consist of fourteen (14) 75-minute on ice sessions beginning June 5 – August 2.  The program, conducted by the Academy coaching staff, will be very structured with a narrow focus: Positional instruction.  The staff will deliver position specific skating, skill work and game situation instruction.  This approach aligns well with our deep practice philosophy by providing each player the ability to understand a concept through detailed explanation, build the skill through controlled repetition, and build confidence via positive reinforcement and instant correction.

Our goal is to keep this group small, allowing us to ensure sufficient repetition and coaching support.  At the conclusion of this program, the Academy of Hockey will also conduct a Junior, College, and Pro Training Camp.  This program will be held for the last three (3) weeks of August, allowing players to ramp up speed, timing and compete level. There will be two (2) groups – a Monday/Wednesday and a Tuesday/Thursday.

Included in the Pod Development program are:

  • On ice Skill Development – the skill and situational specific program will consistently test participants. The Academy coaching staff has added many new concepts to this off season’s curriculum to supplement the core skill base we feel is essential.
